there are several knife styles around the world that can replace the Bowie.
a Kukri is 1 such with certainty. full tang blades beat a half blades and at tails. factory knives are mostly 440 stainless steel no matter fixed or folding. the great majority will come in 3mm thick blades. if your one of the total morons who use your knives as pry bars or screwdrivers etc you will damage a factory knife quickly. if you have some semblance of a brain and knife use savvy you can get a lot out of a factory knife. use different knives
for defense, hunting, skinning, cooking, camping type chores, clearing brush, shaving and so on…and this means you will need to carry some place between 3 to 7 knives right out of the chute.

YOU NEED at bare bone minimum a 12 to 15 inch bowie.
an 8 to 12 inch gut knife/skinner.
an folding knife with a 4 inch blade/5 inch handle.
a kitchen chef knife 8 to 12 inch.
a camping axe 22 inches overall/multi use
or
a meat cleaver 12 to 14 inches overall with a thick blade.
you will take these knives to a pro and have them sharpened even if you
think they are already sharp … unless the pro decides 1 or 2 need no work

Good article I am a knife collector,having 300 knives and love them all, carry one for a month then clean it up and pick another.

Such low standards a knife for.combsy is too big for edc and most hunting.
